    Abstract:

Angiotensin-(1-7) is an alternative metabolite of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) with actions that oppose those of angiotensinⅡ, via its binding to a specific receptor known as Mas. This review focused on the evidence suggesting that angiotensin-(1-7) is beneficial to tissues, and the potential of this protective component of the RAS in therapeutics of several diseases.
